This is he of whom it is written, `Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.’ Luke 7: 27
Wednesday morning we leave on our mission trip. 11 teens and 7 adults in 3 vehicles for 7 hours. God Bless you, Tom, for driving the van full of kids. I really need this mission trip. Despite the work, I’ll consider it more of a vacation. There is something so theraputic about working with your hands…especially when it’s in service to others and God. I hope we are able to complete some of our assignments; it is so rewarding to see the finished project. The youth take great pride in their work and we love those before and after photos.
But what I’m really looking forward to is the time I get to spend with the youth. There isn’t enough time to get into really deep conversation in our short youth group meetings, but working side by side, or whispering late into the night, or just chatting in the car…stuff comes up. They start to open up about their feelings and concerns and their faith. I wish every parent could have a profound faith experience with each of their kids…
but this kind is reserved for youth leaders.

Luke 7:26 (New Living Translation)
26 Were you looking for a prophet? Yes, and he is more than a prophet.

Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I of myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin. Romans 7:25

”Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock;”
Matthew 7: 24

Luke 7:23 (New Living Translation)
23 And tell him, ‘God blesses those who do not turn away because of me.’”

For I delight in the law of God, in my inmost self…Romans 7:22.
Tuesday 07/21/09…Don’t throw like a girl!
So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. Romans 7: 21
This is one of those “WOW” scriptures.
It seems like whenever I feel like I’m on the right track in my service to GOD, on the right track in my marraige, on the right track with the world in general….Satan sneaks in from behind and throws an obstacle on my track…sometimes it’s just a little pebble, but if I don’t pick it up and THROW it as far as I can, that little pebble will get crushed under my foot and become even more little pebbles.
A rose is a rose is a rose. A sin is a sin is a sin.
All those little pebbles become gravel in my shoe, grinding away at my foot, causing pain and suffering until I can’t walk the path any more.
CAST SATAN AS FAR FROM YOU AS YOU CAN!
And don’t throw like a girl!

When the men came to Jesus, they said, “John the Baptist sent us to you to ask, ‘Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else?’ “ Luke 7:20

Yesterday I took the some of the youth to the farm where our church picnic will be today. We pulled weeds and tidied up the yard a bit before taking a dip in their beautiful pool. I am so impressed that 3 teenage boys would give up their Saturday morning to help me pull weeds. Afterwards we went to the Golden Corale for all you can scarph buffet. We ate an obscene amount of food. It was just so nice to spend some time with them. I am SO looking forward to our mission trip next week. We have a group of 18 going…12 youth and 6 adults. It is so amazing to watch a young person transform before your eyes.
With every little bit they grow in their faith, I grow three times as much!

Yesterday I got my class schedule and ordered some of my textbooks. I can’t tell you how intimidating the New Testament Greek looks. I guess I better get busy learning the Greek alphabet!
